KME replaced the original clamp jaws with the new low profile jaws all kits produced since September of 2013 include the updated low profile jaws as standard equipment. 


The low profile standard jaws permit sharpening much smaller knives than the originals and also allow for much lower sharpening angles on all knives. …and yes, they are compatible and will work in older models of the KME system. 

With exceptional grip strength and increased stone clearance, the low profile standard jaws permit sharpening a wide range of blade sizes and shapes.
